EVENTS SOMMER PTA HOSTS/ASSIST WITH:

RETURNING PTA SPONSORED EVENTS: 

• Teacher Welcome Back Breakfast: Treating teachers to breakfast the day before school starts.

• Tears & Cheers Breakfast: Light breakfast for any interested Sommer parents on the first day of school, immediately after school starts in the PTA portable. 

• Pony UP Fall Fundraiser: No hassle fundraiser with very fun benchmark class awards focused around participation.

• Movie Nights: Free movie nights for Sommer students and their families. One for the Fall and one for the Spring.

• Book Fairs: Two Scholastic Book Fairs are hosted each school year. One is for the Fall and one for the Spring.

• Reflections: Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.This year's theme is ‘Accepting Imperfection’.

• Scripps National Spelling Bee: Every year, students from all walks of life have the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. They progress from classroom to cafeteria, from auditorium to civic center, just as millions of other students have done before them.

• Spring Carnival: Games, food, prizes and more! 

OTHER RETURNING COMMITTEES/ACTIVITIES:

• Spiritwear-Online store: 1st Place Spiritwear sells all kinds of Sommer apparrel and more. They even have personalization options if you want to do team shirts, etc.

• National, State, and Local PTA Membership: Access to local, state, and national PTA membership perks, programs, and child advocacy efforts.

• Hospitality: This consists of monthly Staff Appreciation and recognition, keeping the teacher's lounge stocked, Staff Appreciation Week, etc.

• Library Shelving: Work with the Sommer Librarian to help obtain shelving volunteers to put books back on the shelves in the library.

• Homeroom Parent Coordinators: Being the link for class communications, working on Faculty favorites list, organizing class parties ($100 given for 2 parties plus end-of-year Kona Ice Party) and whatever else needed! 

• DEI Engagement Activities: Bulletin board by cafeteria.

• Healthy Lifestyles: Snack Wars & Run, Walk or Ride to school day

• Clothes Closet/ Lost and Found: Manage district participation with the Clothes Closet, as well as trying to help manage our schools' lost and found. Also help with participation in district PTA donation drives (toys, coats, etc)

• Yearbook: Providing students an opportunity to have a school yearbook. We will be using Treering again for the second year after a lot of positive feedback and loving the personalization options! 

• Classroom/Campus Supply Reimbursements: $200 for every classroom supply reimbursement, $50 reimbursed to Education Assistants, $100 to each grade level for new recess equipment, more

NEW PTA PROGRAMS/EVENTS: 

• STEAM Day: New Fall event in place of World of Sommer  

• Spirit Nights: More details to come. These will be spirit nights that Sommer students, family and friends can attend and a portion will go to our PTA.

• Sommer Alumni Scholarship: $1000 awarded to graduating seniors that attended Sommer for at least 4 years.

• School Supplies: First year working with various companies on behalf of Sommer to help assist in providing this opportunity to our students - previous done by office staff here.

SUPPLEMENTAL GIVING:

• Choir licensing for Spring musical

• 20 additional 6 foot plastics tables for all school events

• Outdoor seating/picnic tables

• Custodial Supplies (including a new cart)

• Shelving/organizational materials for PTA Portable

• AND the Budget Committee will meet again after the fall fundraiser to see what else can be done
